Curriculum Vitae

In 2011, Martin Weibelzahl received his M.Sc. degree from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany) in the field of quantitative economics. After having completed his Ph.D. in mathematics and economics within the Elite Network of Bavaria in 2016, he served as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the research groups of advanced analytics and discrete optimization at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany). Since 2018 Martin Weibelzahl is working at the University of Bayreuth, at the FIM Research Center as well as at the Fraunhofer FIT as a senior researcher and lecturer.

Main Research

Martin Weibelzahl focuses on the development of advanced decision support systems. In particular, he applies methods from operations research and mathematical optimization to the fields of energy markets, aviation, and church policy. In these fields of application he also initiated several cooperations with different international researchers.

Martin Weibelzahl regularly publishes his results in international journals like the Annals of Operations Research, Energy Policy, or the European Journal of Operational Research. In addition, he works as a reviewer for several journals including Energy Economics.
